THE STUDIO...

I have a Pro Tools LE set up at home with a Carillon AC 1 Audio Computer and a Digi 002
interface with automated sliders. It's an incredible system! Back in the 1980's and 1990's
you would have to go to a million dollar facility to even approach the quality of a home studio
like mine. Technology is amazing isn't it? Anyway, I'm gonna start recording a few songs here
and post them up for your enjoyment!

STOP BREAKING DOWN:    RECORDED JUNE 1ST 2005

This song is called "Stop Breaking Down" It was originally written and recorded by Robert Johnson.
It was later re-recorded by The Rolling Stones on their Exile On Main Street album.
The Stones' version features a tremendous slide guitar by Mick Taylor which Billy Gibbons later stole note-for-note and used on ZZ Tops' "Mexican Blackbird"
I (as usual) have my OWN interpretation of the song. It was originally written about the horrible HEROIN epidemic that was sweeping the country in the early 1900's through the 1930's. Here in 2005 the words apply to the devestating meth or "crank" epidemic that is just destroying people and families.
I'm playing in standard tuning on my Ibanez. If I truly wanted to get spot on accurate intonation with the slide I would have used a Les Paul with a "blues nut", which is a slip on brass nut that raises the action about 1/4" off the fretboard AND I would have used open tuning.
